Hello, Dolly! is a musical filled with charisma and with heart. Matchmaker Dolly Levi is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler - but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is to find someone for herself. Set in Yonkers and New York City, at the end of the 19th century, Hello, Dolly! is boisterous and charming from start to finish. Hello, Dolly! features such memorable songs as "Before the Parade Passes By", "It Only Takes a Moment", "Put on Your Sunday Clothes", and of course, the title number, "Hello, Dolly!". Dolly herself is one of the strongest and richest starring roles for a woman ever written for the musical theater, and famous Dolly Levis have included Carol Channing, Ethel Merman, Pearl Bailey, Mary Martin, Barbara Streisand, and most recently, Bette Midler and Bernadette Peters.
Hello, Dolly! is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
Book by Michael Stewart.
Music & Lyrics by Jerry Herman.
Based on the play, The Matchmaker, by Thornton Wilder.
You need to attend only one of the audition days. Plan to stay for the whole 2 hours of the audition's time. We will have time for singing, monologues and sides, and we will also have some fun dancing routines with the show's choreographer. Please arrive at your audition prepared and with some knowledge of the material. Read the audition material further down. Select character/s, monologue/s, and song/s that excite you and that you are comfortable with. Ask yourself how these characters behave, walk and how they talk. Know who you are singing to and what you are singing about.
Most importantly - have FUN!
We look forward to seeing you at the auditions.
